Olympia streamlines applying for jobs through interview-first recruiting. Olympia interviewers all worked at Google and have been trained to create real world problem solving interviews.
Think of your Olympia interview as a meeting with a senior colleague. It’s best to ask the interviewer thoughtful questions, analyze the issue with them and create a solution by leveraging their knowledge as well. You are still going to come up with most of the ideas and do the work, but your interviewer will drop you hints and ask you to quickly explain why you chose a particular path over others.
The interviewer will give you a technical problem which you need to analyze and then solve to the best of your ability. We want to see how much you can get done, the trade-offs you can explore but dismiss, your judgment and the quality of your final solution. We do this within a 45 minute time constraint, looking for you to get the task’s scope done (a measure of conscientiousness), because it replicates the imperfect way work gets done.
